Question: The maps below show a coal mining site before and after redevelopment.
ANSWER:
The two maps illustrate the layout of a former coal mine and its repurposing to a tourist attraction afterwards.
Overall, the area was transformed from a primary coal collection site to a visitor area for tourists, with several old mining facilities being converted into recreational purposes.
Before the redevelopment, the upper left corner of the plan was dedicated to an office connected to a changing room for employees, while the lower left corner featured two separate parking zones. At the heart of the area lay a building for the director board, above which was the entrance to the underground mine for workers. Furthermore, the entire section in the right held two identical waste piles, situated at the top and bottom.
After the transformation, the office building was converted into a museum. The parking lot in the lower left corner remained intact, while the second one next to it is now the place for a lottery park. Below the unchanged entrance underground, a cafe was opened at the expense of the director board, whereas the two waste tips were eradicated for the construction of a digging driving track and a picnic area, along with a new child’s play ground below them.
