The graph below shows the percentage of workers in 5 different European countries with a day or more illness absence from 1991 to 2001.
The line chart illustrates the rate of employees who took at least one day of sick leave in different European nations from 1991 to 2001. Overall, while the proportion of workers who were absent by sickness in the Netherlands and Sweden increased over the given period, France had a reverse trend. Additionally, the UK and Germany remained fairly constant during the period examined.
France and the Netherlands started the period around 5%. One year later, the rate of workers with illness absence in the Netherlands increased by approximately 0.5%, before plummeting to just over 4% in 1996. The figure then recovered gradually to about 5.4%, being the highest among the five nations. Furthermore, after standing at around 5% for the first two years, France witnessed a plunge to 3% by 1999, followed by a plateau for the rest of the period.
Turning to the remainder, the proportion of laborers with sick leave in Sweden remained nearly stable at roughly 3% from 1991 to 1995, after which it ascended significantly to about 4.7% by 2001. Both the UK and Germany experienced almost no change throughout the period, with the former being around 2.5% and the latter being relatively smaller at approximately 1.5%. (199 words)

Question: In order to learn about the way other people in the world live, it is better for film and video records than written documents. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
ANSWER:
In the course of studying about cultures worldwide, many assert that motion picture documentaries are a more effective method than written materials. Personally, I only partly agree as each approach has its own merits that compensate for the deficiencies of the other.
On the one hand, video clips provide a better overview and are more appealing for learning. Primarily, the audience can perceive the broad perspective on the topic. Owing to the commonly short duration of videos, the essential aspects of the subjects are condensed into a single film, which helps individuals to comprehend the broad picture in a short time period. Moreover, this form of material likely enhances learners’ comprehension of the subject as it facilitates visual graphics, which assist the audience to visualize the matter in a vivid manner. For instance, an Asian can easily understand the lifestyle of a Western country by watching video documentaries.
On the other hand, written accounts tend to offer learners a more in-depth knowledge and a high level of accuracy. Firstly, while an overall picture can be obtained clearly via motion picture materials, readers can gain a deeper understanding through books. This is because written language often documents comprehensive and extensive knowledge, which contains detailed explanations of the subjects that learners seek to explore. Additionally, written texts provide authentic information regarding civilizations since many of them were produced by actual witnesses, rather than mere researchers. To illustrate, archives from ancient dynasties around the world were documented by their respective historians.
In conclusion, many argue that films and videos are superior approaches for learning about human lives around the world. I somewhat agree with this notion since they can enable viewers to acquire a broader overview and improve their imagination over the subject, whereas written records may provide more accurate insights into a topic of interest.
