The table compares the number of motorised vehicles for every thousand people in 8 nations from 1990 to 2000. Overall, the figures for most countries increased within a decade from 1990 except for Cambodia being the same, and Bahama and Chile seeing a decline. Also noticeable is that Lusumalla was the leading country in both years, followed by New Zealand.
Regarding the countries with an upswing, Lusumalla dominated this category in both 1990 and 2000 with a 3-digit jump from 548 to 728 vehicles. It was followed by New Zealand which increased modestly from 531 to 557. Despite being lower, Brazil, Jordan and Romania also experienced a rise in the number of vehicles per 1,000 residents with Romania rising slightly by 12 to 80 vehicles in 2000. However, Brazil and Jordan more than doubled and tripled to 135 and 157 vehicles respectively in the same year.
In contrast, the three remaining countries had different trends, and Bahama and Chile experienced a drop in motor vehicle figures throughout. The number of vehicles per 1,000 Bahamian people saw a fall from 235 to 187, while that of Chile fell more slowly from 62 to 60 vehicles. On the contrary, Cambodia was the only country remaining the same with only 1 vehicle per thousand citizens in both years. (217 words)

Question: Technologies have changed the way children spend their free time. Do you think the advantages outweigh the disadvantages?
ANSWER:
The development of technology has altered the manner in which young people allocate their leisure time. While this development provides minors a source of extensive knowledge as well as an incentive to study, I believe these merits will likely outweigh the drawbacks to their wellness.
The foremost benefit of advanced technology is that it provides them with an abundant source of knowledge. Students nowadays can use their free time to learn more on online platforms about subjects they find appealing or simply conduct further research on what they have learned at schools. For example, the internet can provide students with information regarding aspects that are external to their educational curriculum.
Another possible advantage that technological advancements bring to youngsters is it possesses the capability to improve children’s social skills. Online communities and messaging apps can enable an avenue for the young to connect with people from diverse backgrounds. As a result, they can learn more about different cultures and this helps broaden their horizons, as well as enlarge their social circles to form new friendships.
Nevertheless, some negative consequences may emerge from the breakthroughs of technology and one of which may be the adverse impact on children’s physicality. Instead of going out, young generations can spend an extensive amount of time at home with modern entertainment devices such as game consoles and movie streaming platforms. Repetitive exposure to the screen will decrease the level of physical exercises and eventually lead to obesity or other health-related issues.
In conclusion, I would like to reiterate that the benefits of modern technology, in terms of providing extensive knowledge and improving children’s social skills, prevail over the downsides such as posing potential health problems. It is recommended that parents and educational institutions should encourage minors to also allocate time to energize outside in their spare time. (302 words)
