The line chart depicts the daily temperature range in Brisbane and Canberra, and the bar graph illustrates the average number of rainy days in two cities in a year. Overall, Brisbane has warmer weather than Canberra each month and their temperatures both rise in the first and last quarter. Additionally, Brisbane has more rainy days at the beginning and end of the year, while Canberra has more rainy days in the middle of the year.
Regarding temperature, Brisbane’s and Canberra’s highest daily temperatures begin at roughly 28 and 26 degrees Celsius in January then decrease to the lows of approximately 22 degrees and about 13 degrees in July, respectively, before recovering to their starting points by the end. Moreover, Brisbane’s lowest temperature ranges from approximately 21 to roughly 12 degrees, whereas Canberra’s minimums are much cooler at between approximately 13 and around 3 degrees
Turning to rainfall, Brisbane witnesses the highest number of days with rain in the first quarter, at around 14 days each month. This nearly halves from June to September, before ascending to about 11 days by December. Question: An increasing number of people are choosing cosmetic surgery. Why do people have operations to change the way they look? Do you think this is a positive or negative development?
ANSWER:
The phenomenon of cosmetic operations has gained traction in today’s society. The possible causes of this development are mainly personal and I consider this to be a detrimental trend in society.
Cosmetic modifications allegedly serve two personal reasons. First of all, many people feel unhappy or self-conscious about their physical features, such as their nose, breasts, or stomach, and hope that surgery can make them more attractive. By addressing these perceived flaws, they may also feel more comfortable in social situations and relationships. Moreover, it contributes to enhancing people’s career prospects. In the era of digital transition, a rising variety of vocational possibilities, particularly in show business, is providing people with methods to generate substantial income based primarily on their physical attractiveness. For instance, an actor with an aesthetically pleasing appearance is more likely to receive a contract in a blockbuster which can be an uplifting trajectory in their professional career.
However, I believe this trend brings more harm than good. The first problem relates to health issues. These procedures have the potential to cause discomfort and involve significant risks, including the possibility of complications such as infections, scarring, nerve impairment, or even fatalities. One prime example is a renowned Vietnamese plastic surgeon who was arrested for violating regulations of medical care for causing the death of one of his patients during a breast augmentation surgery. Furthermore, the emphasis on physical appearance may create unrealistic beauty standards amongst the general public. This can contribute to the objectification of a society where individuals who do not fit into these narrow beauty benchmarks may feel marginalised or stigmatised.
In conclusion, individuals opt for plastic surgery to improve their confidence by looking more beautiful and to gain more employment opportunities. Nonetheless, this entails many negative outcomes to society since it can be physically dangerous and lead to a community in which superficiality outweighs other important personal attributes.
