Question: The bar chart below shows changes in the percentage of households with cars in one Europen country between 1971 and 2001.
ANSWER:
The bar graph illustrates automobile possession proportions from 1971 to 2001, at 10 year intervals, in a particular nation in Europe. Overall, the shares of families that owned one car and at least two cars increased over the given period, which resulted in a decrease in the rate of households without a car. Additionally, the share of one car owners overtook those with no car in the second half of the period to become the highest result.
The percentage of families with no cars was the highest in the first decade. Particularly, nearly half of them in this country did not possess a car in 1971, which declined marginally to approximately 42% a decade later. By 1991, a significant drop to slightly over 30% was witnessed, followed by a minimal fall by around 3% in the end.
Concerning the remaining categories, the share of households with one car in 1971 was precisely 35% and dropped to roughly 31% in 1981. Subsequently, it surged to around 47% then finished at about 42%. Finally, the figure for owners of at least two cars started at approximately 16% and almost doubled in 1981. After this, it decreased to about 21%, prior to a final growth to nearly 28% at the end.
