Question: The chart below shows the number of students from four different countries, applying to a European university.
ANSWER:
The bar graph illustrates the number of foreign students, from four different nations, who applied to colleges in a particular European country in a quinquennium, starting from 2004. Overall, most countries witnessed an increase, except for China which declined. Additionally, China and Japan represented the major sources of applicants among the given nations.
Regarding the primary contributors, the number of Chinese students started the highest at approximately 27,500. Subsequently, it decreased significantly to roughly 18,000 by 2006, prior to a plateau for a year and finished at 15,000 students. As for Japan, around 13,000 applicants were documented in 2004. After ascending and converging with China at about 18,000 in 2006, it reached approximately 27,000 students, becoming the highest result.
Concerning the minor sources, the USA exhibited a stability around 6,000 for the first two surveyed years, before rising continuously to precisely 10,000 by 2008. Finally, the number of students from Russia experienced minimal fluctuations around 2,500 for the entire period, remaining the lowest figure throughout.
