PART 1:
Work/Study
Are you working or studying?
I’m currently studying Computer Studies at Langara College. It’s a challenging program, but I’m learning a lot about programming, databases, and web development.
What do you like about what you do?
I like that it’s practical and has real-world applications. Even though I struggle with some concepts, especially in advanced courses, I know that these skills will be useful for future job opportunities. Plus, problem-solving in coding is quite satisfying when I finally get things to work.
Perfume
Do you like perfume? Why/why not?
Yes, I do. I think a good perfume can boost confidence and leave a nice impression. I don’t wear it every day, but for special occasions, I like to use a fresh, light scent.
Have you ever given perfume as a gift?
Yes, I have. Perfume is a great gift because it’s personal yet luxurious. I once bought a floral-scented perfume for my friend’s birthday, and she really liked it.
Do you give expensive perfume as a gift?
It depends on the person and the occasion. If it’s for someone really close to me, like a family member or best friend, I might spend more on a high-end brand. Otherwise, I usually go for something nice but not too expensive.
Part 2: Describe a time when you went to a crowded place.
A few months ago, I went to the Richmond Night Market in Vancouver with some friends. It’s one of the most popular events in the city, especially during the summer, and I had always wanted to experience it. As soon as we arrived, I realized just how crowded it was there were people everywhere, walking shoulder to shoulder, moving from stall to stall. The atmosphere was lively, with bright lights, music playing in the background, and the delicious smell of street food filling the air.
At first, I found it a bit overwhelming because I’m not really used to being in such a packed environment. We had to wait in a long line just to enter, and once inside, moving around wasn’t easy. People were stopping suddenly to take pictures or lining up at popular food stalls, making it feel even more congested. However, after adjusting to the crowd, I started to enjoy the experience.
One of the best parts was trying all the different foods. We had bubble tea, fried squid, and even some Japanese takoyaki. The food was amazing, but the waiting time for some stalls was around 30 minutes, which was frustrating. Another memorable moment was watching a live performance by a local dance group. The energy of the crowd was incredible, people were cheering, clapping, and taking videos. It made the whole experience feel even more exciting.
Despite the fun, there were some downsides. At times, it was difficult to find a place to sit, and the noise level was quite high. By the end of the night, I felt a bit exhausted from all the walking and standing, but overall, it was a great experience. I think I would go again, but maybe on a less busy day to avoid the huge crowds.
Part 3: Crowded Places
Do people change when going to crowded places?
Yes, I think so. Some people become more energetic and excited, especially if they enjoy socializing. Others might feel stressed or anxious because of the noise and the lack of personal space. I’ve noticed that in crowded places, people tend to move faster and become more impatient, especially in public transportation or shopping malls.
What do cities need to accommodate a lot of people?
Cities need good infrastructure, like efficient public transportation, well-planned roads, and green spaces to balance out the crowded areas. Also, having more public facilities like clean restrooms, wider sidewalks, and better crowd control can help manage large populations more effectively.
Do you think there are some people who enjoy crowded places?
Yes, definitely. Some people love the energy and excitement of crowds, especially in places like concerts, festivals, or sports events. They find it thrilling to be surrounded by so many people sharing the same experience. On the other hand, introverts or those who dislike noise might prefer quieter environments.
