Question: The bar chart shows the percentage of people who ate five portions of fruits and vegetables per day in the UK from 2001 to 2008.
ANSWER:
The bar graph compares the rate of men, women and minors who included five servings of fruit and vegetables every day in their diets in the UK, between 2001 and 2008. Overall, all given cohorts increased over the period. Additionally, the highest proportion of individuals who followed this diet was witnessed among women throughout, while children consistently represented the lowest rate.
Regarding female adults, slightly over a fifth of them incorporated five portions of fruit and vegetables into their daily meals initially, which then increased at a constant rate to reach a peak of approximately 35% by 2006. In the end, the figure dropped to precisely 30%.
As for their male counterparts, this eating behavior was observed in roughly 18% of British men’s daily diets in 2001, after which it plateaued for two years, prior to a rise to roughly 27% by 2006. Subsequently, another fairly stable period was documented for the rest of the timeframe.
Turning to children, the figure similarly recorded a stability for the first three years at the lowest result of about 12%. After this, it ascended continuously to an unprecedented percentage of approximately 26% by 2007, before receding minimally by about 2% in the end.
