To begin with, seawater is collected from the ocean and passes through an intake screening unit, where large objects such as seaweed and debris are filtered out. The water then goes through a pretreatment filtration stage to remove smaller particles and impurities. After that, it enters a reverse osmosis unit, in which salt and dissolved substances are separated from the water through a membrane.
Following desalination, the freshwater undergoes post-treatment to meet drinking-water standards. It is then stored in a supply tank before being delivered for public use. Meanwhile, the remaining concentrated brine is directed through an outlet tunnel and safely discharged back into the sea.
