Question: The tables show results of 2 surveys done in 1980 and 2010 on various aspects of city living in a particular city. Units are measured in percentage.
ANSWER:
The table illustrates assessments of residents in a specific city to numerous living criteria in two separate years: 1980 and 2010. Overall, education and employment saw improvements in their ratings, while healthcare and transport experienced a decline. Additionally, shopping and environmental conditions remained relatively stable in satisfaction over the period.
Regarding the enhanced aspects, 72% of citizens were satisfied with education in this city in 1980, which then increased to 82% 30 years later. At the same time, there was a slight decrease in those rating it negatively, from 5% to 9%. Similarly, employment saw positive ratings rising from 62% in 1980 to 72% in 2010. The proportion of pessimists also ascended from 10% to 23% throughout, while those who remained neutral reduced over four times from 22% to 5%.
Concerning the remaining categories, the rate of residents satisfied with the healthcare system dropped from 82% to 74% over the period. Similarly, the figure for those giving a good assessment to transportation plunged from 52% to 39%, while those perceiving it bad was around one-third in both years. Furthermore, the environment received an increase in bad reviews from 6% in 1980 to 16% in 2010, while good ratings remained fairly stable at around 72%. Finally, positive appraisal of shopping amenities plateaued around 60%.
