The bar graph provides the rate of men and women in the UK who included at least five servings of fruit and vegetables into their daily diet in 2006, divided by age cohorts. Overall, there was a general trend of increasing fruit and vegetable consumption with age which peaked at the 55-64 age group for both genders. Additionally, the proportion of females who reached the goal was higher than that of males in most categories, except for the 75 one.

Question: Some people think that if a country is already rich, any addition in economic wealth does not make its citizens happier. Do you agree or disagree? Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
ANSWER:
It is often believed that increased financial benefits in a developed country will not necessarily result in more fulfilling lives for its residents. I totally disagree with this notion as there are various merits of this that can positively impact citizens’ happiness.
The main reason for my disagreement is that further economic prosperity can provide benefits to society. At first, this can provide the government with additional opportunities to enhance the living standards of its community through the increased tax income from citizens. This can include funding for education, healthcare and infrastructure, which improve the life quality of future generations. Moreover, the increased financial capability can be used to address greater societal problems. Profound research into complex global problems, such as climate change, poverty, and inequality can be granted to develop solutions. Consequently, a greater sense of purpose and meaning may be achieved by individuals, knowing that their wealth is utilized for a beneficial influence on the world.
Further support for my view is the improved financial strength also offers personal benefits. One justification is that it can provide inhabitants access to unique and exotic experiences that may not have been possible with their current level of wealth. For instance, traveling to remote destinations or trying new hobbies. These experiences provide them with a deeper sense of self-awareness and personal growth. Furthermore, increased wealth can facilitate citizens with more flexibility in their lives. It allows professionals to opt for jobs that are less extensive since their financial burden is lightened. This increased flexibility can lead to greater job satisfaction and a better work-life balance, which can positively impact overall happiness.
In conclusion, while many argue that the enhanced wealth in a rich nation does not lead to increased happiness among its citizens, I strongly oppose this viewpoint. I believe it can provide residents with the resources to contribute to society as well as access to new experiences and flexibility, which positively affect their well-being. (325 words)
