Question: The chart below shows the number of people employed in five types of work on one region of Australia in 2001 and 2008.
ANSWER:
The bar graph illustrates the number of workers across five different professions within an unspecified area of Australia, comparing data in two separate years: 2001 and 2008. Overall, the fields of accounting and farming witnessed a decrease over the observed period, whereas the other categories increased. Notably, sales recorded the highest number of employees in both years, while farming showed the lowest numbers throughout.
In terms of the growing professions, the number of salespeople rose marginally from approximately 155,000 to 165,000 over the time span. Moreover, computing and nursing documented comparable figures of roughly 59,000 in 2001. By 2008, nursing had a minimal increase to 60,000, whilst computing exhibited the most substantial growth, reaching nearly 80,000.
As for the remaining categories, accounting ranked second in 2001 with around 65,000 employees, then experienced a slight decline of about 5,000 in 2008. Lastly, there were approximately 30,000 agricultural laborers initially, which dropped significantly to just under 20,000 by the end.
