PART 1:
Day off
When was the last time you had a few days when off?
- The last time I had a few days off was during a long weekend last month. I took advantage of the break to recharge and spend quality time with my family and friends. It was a welcome opportunity to step away from work and academic responsibilities.
What do you usually do when you have days off?
- When I have days off, I enjoy a mix of relaxation and productive activities. I often start my day with some light exercise, like jogging or yoga, to invigorate both my body and mind. Then, I might delve into a book I’ve been wanting to read or catch up on movies or TV shows. Additionally, I use this time to pursue personal hobbies such as painting or cooking, which help me unwind and tap into my creative side.
Small Business
How often do you shop at small businesses?
- I frequently choose to shop at small businesses, as I believe in supporting local entrepreneurs and contributing to the growth of my community. Their unique offerings and personalized services often make for a more pleasant and meaningful shopping experience.
Do you prefer buying things from small businesses or big businesses?
- I generally prefer buying things from small businesses. Not only does this support local economies and foster a sense of community, but it also allows for more direct interactions with the business owners. Moreover, small businesses often offer handcrafted or unique products that might not be available in larger commercial stores. While big businesses have their advantages in terms of variety and convenience, the connection and authenticity that come with shopping at small businesses are significant factors for me.
Home/Accommodation
What kind of housing/accommodation do you live in?
- I currently live in an apartment. It’s a cozy one-bedroom apartment that suits my needs perfectly. The apartment complex offers various amenities such as a gym, a swimming pool, and a communal garden, which adds to the overall convenience and comfort of living here. The location is also quite convenient, with easy access to public transportation and essential services like grocery stores and restaurants.
What do you usually do in your house/flat/room?
- In my apartment, I usually engage in a variety of activities. It’s a comfortable and private space where I can unwind and focus on different tasks. During leisure time, I enjoy reading books and articles on various topics, as well as catching up on the latest news and trends online. Additionally, I pursue creative hobbies such as painting and playing a musical instrument, which provide a sense of relaxation and self-expression.
Part 2:
Describe your friend who you enjoyed working and studying
I am fortunate to have a friend named Sarah, with whom I’ve shared both work and study experiences. Sarah is an exceptional individual who possesses a unique blend of intelligence, dedication, and a vibrant personality.
We first met during our undergraduate studies, and what struck me immediately was her unwavering enthusiasm for learning. Sarah approaches every academic challenge with a thirst for knowledge and a determination to excel. Her dedication to her studies is truly inspiring, and her commitment to understanding complex concepts has often helped me grasp difficult subjects as well.
Sarah’s work ethic is equally impressive. During our time together, we had the opportunity to collaborate on a research project. Her meticulous attention to detail, methodical approach to data analysis, and the hours she invested in refining our research were truly commendable. Her determination to achieve high standards was evident not only in her own work but also in her encouragement of others to do their best.
Beyond her academic and professional qualities, Sarah has a warm and approachable demeanor that makes interactions with her enjoyable. Her sense of humor and ability to lighten tense moments have often turned stressful situations into more manageable ones. She fosters a supportive atmosphere that encourages everyone around her to contribute their best.
Moreover, Sarah’s diverse interests make conversations with her enriching and engaging. From discussing literature and current events to sharing travel stories, she has a way of expanding my horizons and making our interactions intellectually stimulating.
Part 3:
What kinds of co-workers do people like to work with?
- People generally prefer to work with co-workers who exhibit positive qualities such as teamwork, communication skills, and a proactive attitude. Colleagues who are supportive, cooperative, and respectful create a harmonious work environment. Those who are open to sharing knowledge and ideas contribute to collective growth and creativity. Moreover, individuals who are dependable, adaptable, and willing to contribute to the team’s success are valued by their peers.
Which one is more important to you at work, development in work-related skills or recognition from your supervisors?
- While both development in work-related skills and recognition from supervisors are important, I believe that the development of work-related skills holds greater significance for personal and professional growth. Acquiring new skills and improving existing ones not only enhances job performance but also opens doors to new opportunities and challenges. Continuous skill development fosters a sense of accomplishment and self-improvement, ultimately leading to career advancement and increased job satisfaction. While recognition is valuable for motivation and morale, the acquisition of skills is a lasting investment in one’s career trajectory.
Do you think managers should be friends with their subordinates?
- It can be beneficial for managers to maintain a professional and respectful relationship with their subordinates rather than being close friends. A healthy working dynamic ensures that managers can provide constructive feedback, make unbiased decisions, and maintain a sense of authority. However, maintaining an approachable and supportive attitude helps foster open communication and collaboration within the team. Striking the right balance between professionalism and approachability ensures effective leadership while still creating a positive work environment.
