Question: The table below shows the percentage of household and electronic goods in New Zealand in 2002 and 2020.
ANSWER:
The table compares the proportion of families in New Zealand that possessed different household products between 2002 and 2020. Overall, except for video cameras which declined , all other selected items witnessed an increase in the ownership rate, with mobile phones exhibiting the most significant rise. Additionally, washing machines were the most common household item in 2002, whereas color televisions recorded the highest possession rate by 2020.
Regarding home appliances, in 2002 clothes washers were found in 97% of households in New Zealand, which then increased minimally by 1% in 2020. Moreover, 95% of families owned a color television in 2002 and by 2020, this item appeared in almost every house. The figure for dishwashing machines grew by 10% from 45% in 2002.
Concerning personal devices, cell phones surged exponentially from 20% to 80% over the surveyed timeframe. The share of households with computers ascended from 50% to 78% throughout, whereas that of video recorders dropped from precisely three-quarters to 60%. Lastly, albeit soaring considerably from 2% to 40%, digital cameras had remained the least prevalent gadget among families over the period.
